Head of Procurement / Supply Chain

Due to continued expansion of the business, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Head of Procurement / Supply Chain to join our management team based in Portsmouth.

We are looking for a Head of Procurement to join our TPG Maritime Ltd team in Portsmouth. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a forward thinking team, who are working on sharing innovative solutions or manufacturing bespoke engineering systems.

The Role

The successful candidate will be the site-based owner of the procurement function responsible for a team to optimise the supply chain at TPGroup Portsmouth, ensuring a capable supply chain that ensures that quality, cost, and delivery are significant factors driving procurement strategy and decisions.

The role includes extensive collaboration across the Business, working with the Project, Commercial and Design Teams to implement best practice and strategic supplier relationships and obtain best value procurement for project materials and other strategic supplies as necessary.

Accountability for Portsmouth site-based Import and Export requirements and adherence to regulations inclusive of ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations).

As the successful Head of Procurement / Supply Chain, you will be involved in implementing best practice procedures and training to develop a robust supply chain function and work as part of the leadership team to develop solutions for new business opportunities by managing supplier relationships through early engagement.

About You

Essential Requirements:

  • Supply chain experience in an engineering & electronics business
  • Good understanding of engineered components, sub systems and similar
  • Knowledge of quality procedures – ISO 9001:2015, AQAP 2015 and similar
  • High level of analytical skills
  • Team leadership experience
  • Ability to create and deliver a strategy
  • MCIPS or similar professional qualification
  • Import and Export experience including management of ITAR

Preferred but not essential:

  • Formal engineering qualifications
  • Technical background
  • Commercial leadership with good understanding of supplier contracts

  • Candidates will need to undergo an internal BPSS check prior to gaining site access.
  • Candidates will also need to either hold a current SC clearance or be willing and eligible to undergo a Security Clearance check (SC level) upon starting their employment with the company.
    • To gain SC clearance you will normally need at least 5 years’ UK residency.
