Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer

We are looking for a Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer to join our TPG Maritime Ltd team in Portsmouth. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking team, who are working on sharing innovative solutions or manufacturing bespoke engineering systems.

At TPG Maritime, we specialise in the design and manufacture of atmospheric control systems for the defence industry and are part of the wider Science Group an international science, engineering, and technology (“SET”) business listed on AIM stock market.

The Role

This Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer position sits within our bespoke engineering solutions side of the business, where we develop life-support systems in critical workspace, oxygen and carbon capture-based solutions for harsh environments and precision engineering of high-integrity equipment.

As the Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be assisting the design engineers on projects to ensure the design and performance requirements of a product are delivered successfully against the customer specification. You will be taking basic project ideas and producing detailed designs for equipment, framework, and enclosures. All drawings to be produced to a high standard of accuracy and clarity.

About You

We envision the successful Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer to have the following:

  • HND / Degree or equivalent qualification in electrical / electronic or mechanical engineering.
  • User of Solidworks or similar 3D CAD software.
  • Flexibility, enthusiasm, self-motivated and able to work well under own initiative.
  • Ability to interact with colleagues, customers and suppliers in a professional manner.
  • A willingness to learn new skills and to take on new challenges.
  • A confident communicator who is professionally presented.
