EDF Haysham East CO2 Plant Upgrade

In 2018 TPG Engineering Ltd, part of TP Group, was awarded the design and manufacturing contract for the replacement of the East CO2 Plant Vaporisers 3 & 4 and the pressure sustaining unit. The units were originally supplied by us during the Hunt Thermal days and had exceeded the design life and now needed replacement.

The technical review, TPG Engineering Ltd. slightly re-designed the units to offer the benefit of continual improvement. Compliance inspections were carried out by WSP, EDF Energy’s third party inspection body, throughout the manufacturing process as per the requirements of the documents that outlined how the quality of welding & NDT were to be controlled.

A meeting was held at TPG Engineering Ltd.’s manufacturing facility to carry out a pre-job brief to review progress. The surveillance team were particularly impressed with TPG Engineering Ltd.’s dedication to safety, evident from the in depth induction that was provided and from the discussions around fire safety and control of combustibles.

The team were also impressed with TPG Engineering Ltd.’s continuous improvement efforts, evident from the investments being made in new state of the art workshop equipment and the adoption of TPM principles including 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize & Sustain)
