Project HEART (Hydrogen Electric and Automated Regional Transportation), sees Osprey developing hydrogen powered, automated and remote piloting solutions for small aircraft, carrying between 9 to 19 passengers, travelling ‘short hops’ – less than 500 nautical miles. The project ambition is to provide hydrogen fuelling facilities at up to 100 UK licensed airfields with the initiative is expected to enter service in 2025.
Supporting the MOD to Net Zero
Our consulting business, has used cost-estimating techniques to understand the current and future fossil fuel needs of the UK MOD. Our study incorporated a review of previous science and technology research and trials into the reduction of the use of fossil fuels.
Osprey has assisted over 950 wind farms to address their issues on aviation. One of the most recent success stories is the proud association with the Neart na Gaoithe project team to achieve major aviation-related milestones in developing the airspace solution to enable their offshore wind development project to move forward without an aviation based objection.
Osprey is providing certification support and regulatory advice as part of the DragonFLY consortium. This ground-breaking initiative is funded by the Welsh Government European Regional Development Fund to develop a hybrid electric/hydrogen powered aircraft in support of cleaner, greener aviation initiatives achieved through innovative industry collaboration.
We continue to reduce our carbon footprint through:
• Reviewing and reducing our office requirements
• Planning to centralise the procurement of gas and electricity for our UK operation to ensure 100% UK generated renewable power from certified renewable sources
• Replacing equipment such as air conditioning units at the end of their life with more energy efficient units, and moving to LED lighting where possible and practical
• Investing in technology, improving online working and meetings, and training for managers to help them oversee teams of remote workers.
• A Cycle to Work Scheme to encourage employees to use a more sustainable form of commuting
• Moving closer to paperless offices through the transition to Microsoft 365, and ensuring print, where required, is on recycled paper
• Identifying and assessing environmental risks, such as packaging waste, arising from its operations. Waste management initiatives are encouraged and supported by the Group and materials are recycled where practicable
