TP Group adds technical voice to leadership team
The leadership team at TP Group now benefits from advanced technical insight with the promotion of Dominic Černis to Chief Technical Officer (CTO). Dominic has an academic background in astrophysics and more than 20 years’ experience in the defence sector. He was previously Head of Analysis and Operational Research at TP Group. In this newly created role, he will ensure technical excellence is upheld as the business scales and extends its service offering.
Ingenuity and governance
As the lead on technical strategy and delivery, Dominic is responsible for the calibre, quality, and consistency of TP Group’s services. This includes aligning the business offering with current and future defence requirements.
“Evidence-based decision making is a critical success factor in defence, where threats and requirements evolve at pace,” Dominic explains. “We have the in-house skills and expertise to support this, and it’s my job to ensure we apply our capabilities in the most effective and efficient way. We collaborate with clients to elicit and examine their technical needs for today and tomorrow, so our team understands what’s on the horizon. Our aim is to keep clients one step ahead despite the dynamic and volatile nature of their work. We achieve this by providing deep and relevant consultancy on pertinent topics.”
Dominic also has oversight of technical standards and procedures, encouraging team members to strive for a ‘right first time’ ethos. Having handled multibillion-pound bids in former roles he understands the unique challenges and complexities of large and complex programmes. He also spent almost nine years working for the Ministry of Defence (MOD) Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl), which enables him to advocate from the client perspective and place himself in their mindset.
“Satisfying client expectations time after time for the duration of a complex project is only possible if you determine exactly what is needed when, and how it should be delivered. TP Group has a strong track record on this front, and I’m putting measures in place to ensure our reputation for excellence grows in parallel with the business.”
Technical ingenuity and governance are central to TP Group’s science and technology consultancy services. These qualities are of strategic importance to the defence sector and as CTO, Dominic considers himself a ‘critical friend’ to the internal team and clients alike.
